➢ And much more
Private Pilot Ground School is a structured program that teaches the foundational knowledge required to become a certificated Private Pilot. Federal Aviation Regulations require that a person receive and log ground training on aeronautical knowledge areas, including principles of aerodynamics, powerplants, aircraft systems, navigation, charts, airspace, weather, performance calculations, and flight planning. Understanding this information is essential for safe and efficient flying.
No prior experience is necessary; however, I do recommend taking at least one flight, a Discovery Flight. You'll find that what you learn in the ground school will make a lot of sense as to how you will be applying the information that you are learning: why we are checking the magnetos during the engine run-up, how to enter and leave the airport traffic pattern (and all those airport signs and symbols!), and actually feel and experience aerodynamic forces during maneuvers, such as load factors and stalls.
Kathy's Private Pilot Ground School Class is 10 weeks long, Saturday mornings from 9 am to 1 pm, so you will experience 40 hours of instruction on all of the Technical Subject Areas. This will include hands on with seeing the internal parts of the flight instruments and various engine parts, experiencing Gyroscopic Precession (with Kathy's "Official Aviation Gyroscopic Precession Demonstrator!"), using the E6B, and filling out a navigation log. Each week a quiz is sent out, with questions from the FAA database of questions, to prepare for taking the FAA Knowledge Test. Kathy also gives real world scenarios to help prepare you for the Oral Portion of the Private Pilot Checkride.
After completing the Ground School course ( ... if you have put your best effort and work into it!), you'll be ready to take the FAA Private Pilot Knowledge Test. Ideally, the ground and flight training should be happening concurrently ... the concepts learned in the ground school are applied during the flights, and the flight training is much more meaningful by understanding the theories and reasoning behind all the procedures.
Kathy offers this course at least three times a year; if you miss a class (or two), you can attend that class the next time around, within a year, at no charge.
Kathy’s Ground School Classes were an absolute game-changer for me. Her ability to simplify complex topics with real-world examples made learning enjoyable and effective. By the end of the 10-week course, I felt confident and fully prepared for the FAA written exam. Thanks to Kathy’s expert guidance, I’m now one step closer to achieving my dream of becoming a pilot!
Enrolling in Kathy’s Ground School was the best decision I made for my aviation journey. Her teaching style is clear, engaging, and tailored to help you succeed. The 10-week course provided me with all the knowledge I needed to pass my written exam on the first try. Kathy truly goes above and beyond to ensure her students are ready to soar!
Thank you so much, Kathy! Your graphics and explanations are spot on and very easy to understand! You are such an amazing teacher!
